PAINT & PLANT

Create meaningful art related to the unique landscape created by millions of years of earth processes and “plant the seed” that will build on community togetherness and encourage a love and respect for our natural environment.

From Mountains to Molehills: children will learn how Mountains are formed and how erosion creates a landscape that is rich in nutrients which provide them with forests, fauna, fields and streams that provide us with our nutritional needs.  Connecting the landscape inspires to offer education where children will be empowered. We would like to help children make strong connections with the earth, themselves and others, have adequate time to learn, use their artistic skills, value these skills and become confident and proud of who they are and where they live.

Activity: Welcome and Introduction by facilitator, A 15 – 20 minute Nature walk to collect items (tools) to use for painting.  If weather or timing is an issue we will provide the items in a tool kit.  Participants have an overview of Earth Processes including Mountains, Earthquakes, volcanoes, Ice Age, Erosion), then we choose one of these theme as a base for their canvas. While canvas is drying the children are provided with a small pot with soil and a seeds to plant and take home to nurture and plant in their garden or property.
