Fishing

Rockwood Park is stocked with trout by the Department of Natural Resources twice a year with brook trout.

The Rockwood Park fishing season is May 1st-September 15th


1) A valid New Brunswick fishing license is required (the only exception being children 15 and under who are accompanied by an adult with a license)
2) Under no circumstances can you move fish from 1 lake to another
3) Under no circumstances can you put a fish from outside the park into any of our lakes ie. No baiting with live fish
4) You cannot keep a live fish.
* Failure to follow these rules may result in legal action under the New Brunswick Fish and Wildlife Act*

FISH YOU CAN CATCH IN THE PARK:

We have many species of fish in the park but the only ones big enough to hook are:

Brook Trout
Yellow Perch
Pumpkinseed Sunfish
Creek Chub

Smallmouth bass

Black bullhead catfish

Brown bullhead catfish

American eel


LENGTH AND DAILY BAG

LIMITS:

Brook Tout

Bag Limit = 5 per license
Minimum Length = 10cm

Yellow Perch

Bag limit = 10 per license
Minimum Length = 10cm
Maximum Length = 50cm

* No bag or length limits exist for either Pumpkinseed Sunfish or Creek Chub but please refrain from keeping any fish under 10cm.


WINTER

The Rockwood Park ice fishing season is January 1st-March 31st
 
1)     NB ice fishing license is required
2)     No structures are permitted on the ice as it is not a tidal water
3)     Fishing is permitted through a man-made hole or a natural opening in the water if angling from the shore
4)     Under no circumstances can you put a fish from outside the park into any of our lakes ie. No baiting with live fish.


THINGS TO REMEMBER:

Please use barbless hooks: be as humane to the wildlife as possible
Never cause any unnecessary damage to the parkís habitats or wildlife
Visit the Rockwood Park Interpretation centre if you have any questions or concerns
